Leslie Michelle  Jarrett
Get to know what inspires and drives Leslie, to be a creative soul. I have always been creative and my family encouraged this creativity from a young age by taking me to museums. I have always felt the most free when in nature and listening to music, nature calms me. And to this day I will go for walks to get inspiration or reflect. My overall style is heavily influenced by art including; music, film, and visual arts. Music is a major part of my life due to my connection to the Caribbean and Africa. As the child of an immigrant from Sierra Leone, West Africa I learned to view the world from a global perspective. I grew up singing in Choir. I have an appreciation for music and grew up listening to various genres of music from; Reggae, Soca, African music, Rock, R & B, Soul, Pop, British pop, Gospel, Indie, and more. I love cooking and using any medium to express my creativity.

I have a Bachelors in Interior Design from The Savannah College of Art & Design. But decided to go into footwear during the recession in 2009. Growing up I always struggled finding shoes for my size 10 AA foot.  After attending a portfolio day and learning about The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising I decided to pursue additional education and move to Los Angeles. While at FIDM I studied product development and footwear design. I have interned at apparel, accessories, and footwear companies. These internships exposed me to the ins and outs of running a fashion company. I recently graduated with an MBA from FIDM, the program focused on marketing, financial analysis, legal issues relevant to business, and digital marketing and web analytics. My short-term goal is to secure a full time role as an assistant buyer or production coordinator. In the long-term I want to design footwear that is both high-quality and fashion forward with an edge. I plan to achieve this by using my technical skills, knowledge of fit, excellent CAD skills, and my elevated style.
